SALARY: $42,000 or commensurate with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The person selected for this position will supervise a caseload of criminal offenders placed under community supervision; monitor probationer’s compliance with the orders of the Court through routine office visits and field contacts to ensure community safety; conduct alcohol and drug testing of probationers, report violations to the appropriate authority; complete pre-sentence reports if requested; conduct assessment and create individualized case plans; chronological reports; drug screening; court testifying; maintain a professional rapport with all individuals and agencies

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have acquired a bachelor’s degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, preferably in criminal justice, criminology, social work, psychology, sociology, rehabilitative studies or a related field.

Other Qualifications:

• Applicant cannot be employed as a peace officer
• Applicant is subject to a background check
• Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Must maintain a valid Texas license for continued employment in this position.
• Must own their vehicle, have proof of current liability insurance and maintain liability insurance.
• Must obtain and maintain certifications, training and any other requirements of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – CJAD Standards.
• Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of Criminal Justice Practitioner Training Course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) from the Texas Department of Public Safety within one year of employment.
• Must pass a criminal history check and drug test.
• Must have and maintain a telephone number at which she/he can be reached.
