CTL Engineering Inc. Job Description- Construction Inspector
**
Location: INDOT Crawfordsville District
Travel: will be provided with a vehicle stipend for their own personal vehicle, or given a take-home vehicle depending on their assignment
General Statement of Duties: Performs construction administration testing and inspection services for state, county and local projects. Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications, reads project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and works on a variety of construction projects.
Supervision Received and Exercised: Works independently on broad projects under direction of a Department Manager. No direct supervisory duties required.
Examples of Duties: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in this job.)

• Performs construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects. ·
• Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications, reads construction drawings, and works on a variety of construction projects. ·
• Inspects construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals and bridge projects. ·
• Verifies plan quantities and calculations with as bid plans, prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer. ·
• Notifies the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work. ·
• May conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects. ·
• Conducts quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel ·
• Prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer in a timely manner. Notifies the project engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge: Knowledge of inspection services in a Construction industry, Knowledge of quality control testing, Knowledge of Engineering, Knowledge of compliance specifications
• Skills: Very strong report writing and field note taking skills. Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Abilities: Ability to be reliable, a team player and monitor and enforce quality standards, Quality minded and client focused, Ability to manage projects, Ability to be organized, demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments and must be able to interact well with others

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completed INDOT Certified Technician program OR has a bachelor’s degree is either Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Experience: Construction inspection experience on INDOT funded projects, must be located within the INDOT Crawfordsville District, has experience and log-in information to Site Manager

Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and have proven clean driving record.
