The Consumer Mortgage Closer plays a vital role in improving the financial lives of Suncoast Credit Union members. Key responsibilities include reviewing, preparing, and discussing the HUD-1 Settlement Statement with borrowers on their second mortgage loans. Responsibilities:
- Administer tasks to meet closing requirements for loan approvals
- Ensure accurate loan information is in the origination system and displayed on applicable documents such as the loan amount, term, interest rate, borrower names, and closing costs
- Obtain internal payoffs for accurate disbursement dates and update origination system
- Produce mortgage closing documents
- Verify data entry including legal description, applicable mortgage riders, selection of Home Equity loan plan, adjustable-rate change dates, closing costs, and inclusion of closing conditions noted in loan underwriting approval
- Resolve outstanding closing conditions prior to scheduling the closing date
- Ensure adequate coverage of hazard and flood insurance is established and Suncoast Credit Union is listed as the mortgagee
- Establish and maintain rapport with mortgage applicants
- Implement established performance standards when answering questions, and returning phone or emails in a prompt manner
- Prepare and approve Hud-1 Settlement Statements
- Assist service centers with questions regarding consumer mortgage applications in the closing stage
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of mortgage processing or closing experience
- Home Equity or Fannie Mae experience preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems or situations
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities
- Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Ability to communicate information requiring explanation or interpretation
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
