Purpose:
To help design, build, program, support, install, document and maintain present and future automated machinery and control systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- To help design, build, program, support, install, document and maintain present and future automated machinery and control systems. The control systems are integral parts of Weidmann Electrical equipment. The control systems consist of, but not limited to PC, DCS, VFD, PLC, CNC, relays, switches, analog devices, air logic, hydraulic, programming language and electrical components.
- The job requires a person to be very knowledgeable in all aspects of automated machine control with the ability to learn new systems as the job requires.
- The individual who performs this job must be highly-motivated and able to train co-workers. The individual must be able to work independently or as a member of a team.
- The job requires an individual who is willing to work a flexible-hour schedule that supports production requirements.
- Responsible for keeping all production machinery, such as Board Machines, Stripmill, CNC Routers, CNC Punches, Cutting Center, Lam Saw, Lam Press and building systems repaired and in good running condition.
- Perform process calibrations in compliance with Section 7.6 of the Quality Manual.
- Respond to off-hours’ call-ins required.
- Employees in this position may be required to enter confined spaces. Confined Space entry training is required every three (3) years).
- Has the responsibility of understanding and carrying out their assigned duties in conformance with customer and business requirements.
- Ensures that problems, errors and/or defects that surface in regard to products, documentation, procedures or materials are promptly brought to attention for correction.
- Provides support and input for continual improvement projects, preventive and corrective actions.
- Has the responsibility to halt or change a process if it is not achieving planned results.
- Help design, develop, plan and maintain facilities, processes, production equipment and tooling to meet the needs of the business.
- Develop cost estimate for quotation purposes.
- Support of analytical studies as needed.
- Produce products and services that meet the defined and anticipated customer expectations.
- Support continual improvement, corrective and preventive action projects and use appropriate business processes.
- Work to acquire appropriate training.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays if required.
Job Requirements:
- Journeyman Electrical License (Master preferred) or AAS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Engineering Technology preferred).
- Strong knowledge in PLC Control Systems, preferably GE-90 Series, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Wonderware and other control systems.
- Strong knowledge in machine control as related to automated machinery.
- Experience in the use of program languages similar to Basic or C Language.
- General knowledge of basic electronics and mechanical systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting machines with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Working knowledge of industrial electricity and relay control systems.
- Ability to document systems using electrical drawings.
- Perform the same duties as an “A” Electrician.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements in accordance with the Essential Function Job Analysis.
