Job Description

Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) is accepting applications for a full-time Corporate Training Program Manager (Administrative Officer). This position focuses on recommending, developing, marketing, and delivering corporate training solutions to meet the unique training needs of regional business and industry. This position will be accountable to meet course revenue and business development goals. Successfully accomplishing these objectives will require partnering with industry leaders to determine their needs, as well as collaborating with academic deans and teaching faculty to identify and utilize resources throughout the college. Corporate training needs will vary from general skills, such as customer service and leadership, to specific technical training topics in manufacturing, healthcare, and other industries. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with skills across the domains of adult education, business consulting, instructional design, and educational programming.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning, Business, Education, or other related field.
  • Experience in business development and community relations.
  • Experience developing high-quality adult education courses and/or corporate training programs.
  • Project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Demonstrated record of meeting sales and productivity objectives.
  • Demonstrated record of high customer satisfaction.
  • LERN certification or specific graduate level coursework in corporate training program development.
  • Portfolio of diverse and successful corporate training programs.
