As a
Counter Sales Specialist you will be responsible for fulfilling customers HVAC/R product needs by providing HVAC/R information, technical support, and special ordering for customers while maintaining a team working environment.

Johnstone Supply - New Jersey is a family owned HVAC/R wholesale-distributor established in 1987. Currently there are nine branch locations in Northern/Central/Southern New Jersey and one in Staten Island New York.
Essential Job Functions:
- Determines customer replacement HVAC parts, according to the inspection or verbal/description of the old part, and customer requirements.
- Provides customer product and service needs by performing tasks such as finding products using computer, catalog, telephone or other reference sources. Processes customer transactions by researching, entering and printing quotes; processing warranties, balances cash drawers; creates credit invoices; processes pick/pack orders; and processes will-call backorder notifications.
- Recognizes products most commonly purchased by customers; resolves commonly-encountered technical problems; responds to incoming sales calls; makes outgoing customer sales or service calls; and addresses customer complaints.
- Maintains knowledge of HVAC/R fundamentals and product lines by knowing the function of most products we carry, and where and how they are used; and knowing the vendors we carry and their respective lines.
- Sustains a team-oriented work environment by treating fellow employees and customers with professionalism, respect and attention to individual needs; and effectively communicating customer needs, product requirements, sales opportunities and personal issues to coworkers and management.
- Maintains a clean store, with a neat and orderly appearance and by conducting oneself in a professional manner.
- Remains alert at all times for suspicious customers and takes action accordingly.
- Experience with cashing out customers
- Performs other duties or tasks as may be assigned.
Education, Work Experience & Specialized Skills or Knowledge:
- High School Diploma and a Technical Diploma in HVAC/R or 3-5 years relevant experience in the HVAC/R field, preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in a wholesale environment in the HVAC/R industry preferred. Experience must include front counter waiting on customers.
- Familiarity with training assessment tools and data gathering methodologies such as surveys and focus groups.
- Proficient with computers looking up and cross-referencing parts/equipment and capacity to learn new software.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and/or with teams.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage and prioritize multiple projects while working under pressure.
- Proactively seeks opportunities for optimizing processes and provides recommendations.
- Creative problem-solving skills and displays a sense of urgency.
- Must be a customer-oriented individual with the ability and skills to meet, greet and service customers. Also, is a team player able to achieve the goals and objectives as mandated by the Branch Manager.
- Polished and professional demeanor in person, online and via phone.
- Works well independently and in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills.
