Job Title: CREDIT & COLLECTIONS ANALYST Level 1
Job Location: Novato, California
Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000/year
Note: Relocation and any associated costs are the sole responsibility of the person hired for the position.
Overview
This position is primarily responsible for determining the creditworthiness and risk profile of prospective and existing customers by performing credit risk assessments, analyzing their financial information, monitoring the credit risk and payments of existing customers, and making informed decisions while extending credit. He or she is also responsible for collection of invoices in a timely manner and resolving customer chargebacks in accordance with Birkenstock’s credit and collections policies and procedures, while maintaining good relationships with customers.
Responsibilities
- Manages AR portfolio of accounts assigned to him or her.
- Performs credit reviews on new and existing customers. Reviews existing customers based on Credit policy on frequency of credit reviews.
- Obtain bank/trade references and request financial statements, if needed from customer.
Pull industry credit reports and public online reports.
- Analyzes and assesses s imple financial statements independently, payment history and credit risk of customers.
- Makes an independent credit limit and risk class decision based on approval level authority.
- Prepares credit review recommendation based upon findings for management to help make informed and sound decisions on the credit worthiness of accounts.
- Processes new accounts and reviews credit applications in a timely manner.
- Reviews accounts receivable aging report and collects past due invoices
- Identifies credit issues and customers with deteriorating credit risks and recommends to
Credit Manager the reduction of credit line, order hold, withdrawal of open terms and/or placement of account with a collection agency.
- Reviews orders on credit hold, releases them according to Credit policy. Communicates status of held orders to Sales, Customer Service and Customers as appropriate.
- Researches and reconciles credit collection issues, including disputed invoices and customer claims. Work with Sales, Sales Support, and Fulfillment to determine resolution of unauthorized deductions.
- Recommends to Manager the payment settlement of delinquent customers and unresolved chargebacks, when approved negotiates payment settlement directly with customer.
- Interacts closely with Customers, Sales, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable and other internal departments.
- Effectively balance excellent customer service while minimizing credit risk and ensuring efficient collection of invoices and disputed chargebacks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities:
- AR portfolio is composed of simple or less complex accounts that are low to moderate risk accounts.
- Credit limit approval level is $50K or less.
Position Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 2 years of credit analysis experience and 3 years of credit collections in a high volume environment.
- Familiarity with financial statement analysis in the context of credit worthiness analysis.
- Proficiency in MS office products: Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and communications skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team and independently.
- Ability to negotiate and problem solve.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work- related stress is required.
- Remains calm and professional in stressful situations.
