Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. Please Note: In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support visa applications. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check. Applicants must complete a physical and back x-ray prior to employment.
This position reports to the Coordinator of Operations of the EOC on a daily basis. The Coordinator of Operations reports to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities: This EOC Custodial Worker is primarily responsible for an assigned section of the Educational Opportunity Center facility. The assigned area may include office, meeting, classroom, kitchen, vending, restroom, and common areas. A driver’s license is required for this position and candidate must be in good physical condition. The position is responsible for locking and securing of the facility on a daily basis. The routine functions performed by this EOC Custodial Worker include:
- Trash pickups and container cleaning
- Replenish all dispensers
- Vacuum carpeting
- Dust, clean and polish furniture, woodwork, and other equipment
- Steam clean carpeting
- Sweep and mop tiled floors and stairs
- Strip and wax tiled floors
- Thoroughly clean restrooms
- Clean all chalkboards and whiteboards
- Clean and disinfect water fountains
- Maintain storage areas
- Distribute supplies/textbooks
- Clean glass and window surfaces
- Assist with painting operations
- Assist with equipment and furniture moves
- Requisition supplies/maintain adequate custodial supplies
- Burnish floors
- Unload/load materials
- Transport EOC students in EOC vehicles
- Assists EOC maintenance with minor repairs
- Rearrange furniture
- Clean microwave ovens
- Clean refrigerator in staff lounge
- Wash walls, windows, and fixtures
- Replace ceiling lamps
- Assists with package/mail deliveries in absence of EOC messenger
- Arranges furniture and sets-up accommodations for Special Functions
- Meets regulatory standards for cleanliness and safety in all spaces assigned
- Performs various grounds activities including, but not limited to, weeding, trash collection, hedge trimming, sidewalk/parking lot clean-up, snow removal, etc.
- Work assignments may be at any EOC location depending upon special events or other coverage needs requiring travel between the Troy and Albany sites or to other locations at which the EOC is conducting business.
- This position may be temporarily reassigned as needed to day shift custodial which also requires reception and telephone coverage.
- This position may provide back-up coverage for the EOC’s maintenance worker during scheduled vacation and personal leave periods (Maintenance hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 30-minute lunch)
- Other duties as assigned and allowed by contract for a Custodial Worker.
