The DAS Tech will be installing, integrating and troubleshooting Public Safety and Distributed Antenna Systems at client(s) venues/locations in Arizona. They will have had hands on experience commissioning commercial DAS as well as public safety DAS equipment on a customer site; detailed knowledge of at least one DAS or Public Safety DAS vendor. Familiar with other DAS vendors equipment is a plus. Correctly install DAS head-end equipment with minimal supervision: including, but not limited to DAS, RF, Repeater Systems and DC power. Correctly commission DAS head-end equipment with minimal supervision: including, but not limited to DAS, RF, DC power, and repeater systems. (Note: Certain RF equipment must be commissioned by the manufacturer and cannot be commissioned by EWS. As the manufacturers requirements are lifted, the techs will be trained and expected to complete commissioning of additional equipment.) Working knowledge of DC power. Correctly terminate and test coax to customer specifications (provided) without supervision. This includes sweep testing and PIM testing.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

Required Experience:

  • Experience installing DAS and Public Safety head-end equipment with minimal supervision: including, but not limited to DAS, RF and DC power.
  • Commissioning DAS and Public Safety head-end equipment with minimal supervision: including, but not limited to DAS, Repeaters, RF and DC power. (Note: Certain RF equipment must be commissioned by the manufacturer and cannot be commissioned by EWS. As the manufacturer's requirements are lifted, the techs will be trained and expected to complete commissioning of additional equipment.)
  • Experienced with DAS and Public Safety alarming termination. (Including 66 block or annunciator termination)
  • Correctly terminate and test coax to customer specifications (provided) without supervision. This includes sweep testing and PIM testing.
  • Experience with the integration of at least one technology into a DAS (GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, UMTS,LTE, PS 700, 850, 450)
  • Ability to connect and configure BTS equipment.
  • Experience with CW testing sufficient to lead a team and complete a test, based on criteria provided by the DAS Field Engineer or another RF Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of spectrum analyzer, CW equipment, QOS test equipment, test phones, Anritsu and T1 test sets on customer equipment.
  • Problem identification, organization, and resolution with familiar equipment.
  • Quality of Service (QOS) data collection experience. Including TEMS.
  • T1 termination, extension, testing, and troubleshooting experience
  • Understand basic RF concepts.
  • Knowledge of fiber testing procedures and fiber testing troubleshooting.
  • Ability to train DAS technician I on all required skills, as well as assisting DAS Tech I in learning DAS Tech II responsibilities.
  • Proficient computer user including Microsoft Office.
  • Up to 75% travel possible

Preferred Experience:

  • DAS procedures for noise mitigation to meet customer KPI.
  • Balancing UL and DL between carriers.
  • Balancing RTWP with UE TX.
  • DAS alarming test procedures with AT&T Standards. (NEA testing)
  • Public Safety DAS alarming test procedures from the NFPA 7 standard alarms
  • Repeater antenna alignment
  • Signaling systems and communication system protocols.
  • Experience with wireless infrastructure provider and/or operator.
  • Specific product knowledge for at least one wireless infrastructure provider.
  • Certifications Preferred in one or more of the following: Corning Mobile Access, Tyco/TE , Connectivity, Zinwave, Commscope, SOLiD. Westell, COMBA

  • Must be able to provide a clean driving record, pass a background test, and drug screening.
  • This position is considered Safety- Sensitive.
