The Environmental Studies Program at
Oberlin College invites applications for the position of Assistant Project Manager for Environmental Dashboard. This is a full-time, one-year, non-continuing grant-supported position, with the potential for renewal.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in the management, development, and assessment of Environmental Dashboard (ED), a novel communication technology that provides community residents with environmentally and socially contextualized real-time feedback designed to promote community sustainability and resilience. Essential Job Functions
Specific responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and ensuring progress on all components of the ED project. This includes managing and updating task lists and meeting agendas.
- Coordinating with community partners.
- Serving as a point person for further development of content for the “Community Voices” component of the project.
- Working closely with K-12 teachers, administrators, and college faculty to develop, implement, organize, and promote educational materials that use the ED.
- Presenting and promoting ED in various contexts to organizations and communities that might be interested in replicating all or part of ED.
- Managing students who work on all aspects of the ED project, including data science and social science students. Contexts include paid student research assistants, students taking a “Practicum in Environmental Communication,” private readings, independent research, and honors projects.
- Managing and updating the environmentaldashboard.org website
- Developing content for and managing ED digital signage.
- Assisting a research team in designing, implementing, analyzing, and reporting on experiments associated with the project.

Required Qualifications
We seek an individual with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. The hire must have excellent organization and project management skills, strong analytical skills, strong communications skills (verbal, writing, and visual presentation), a high level of responsibility, demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a collaborative team, ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically with diverse segments of society ranging from children, city officials, members of the business community, low-income communities, civic and political leaders, etc.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with: project management, teaching, curriculum development, organizing for environmental and/or social justice causes, website management, photography and graphic design, statistical analysis, advanced computer skills (experiences with hardware and computer coding are plusses).
Compensation
$36,000 plus a comprehensive benefits plan.
