Primary Purpose
Assists with developing and modifying data analytics resources for the Quality and Safety Operations division and the enterprise organization, to provide Parkland with actionable information to assess and improve quality and safety performance and outcomes. Coordinates data solution development and works continuously to improve skills associated with data request fulfillment and documentation records keeping. Able to complete tasks and multiple projects in a self-directed manner without extensive oversight. Seeks challenges and takes ownership for assigned work and completes within the established timelines.

Minimum Specifications

Education
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in technology, Public Health, healthcare, or healthcare related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience as an analyst working as a team member in a project environment applying Agile or Waterfall methodologies as part of the analytics project development, management, and delivery OR two (2) years of experience leading/managing analytics project development and delivery.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) application, within a healthcare organization.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a clinical or hospital quality environment.
  • Office products and project tracking software.
  • Experience demonstrating systems analysis, IT, or programming skills are a plus.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience from the list above in lieu of specific education and/or experience as explicitly stated above.

Certification/Registration/Licensure
  • Epic application and/or Cogito proficiency or certification preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

Responsibilities
  • Assists with the formulation and definition of analytics resource scope and objectives through evidence-based research and data abstraction. Collaborates with business partners and cross-functional teams to learn business processes and capture requirements relative to proposed solutions.
  • Gathers and documents business requirements for analytics resource development.
  • Translates requirements into technical products, from which programs will be written and coordinates the project lifecycle.
  • Assists with designing, coding, testing, identification, and removal of any errors within analytics resources.
  • Prepares test conditions and conducts testing to validate that the report/dashboard works per specifications.
  • Supports the Clinical Quality and Safety Analytics program and Quality and Safety Operations through development and maintenance of data sources and reports.
  • Develops simple reports using quality and safety data sources, such as Vizient, NHSN, and the organization's safety event reporting system.
  • Provides administrative support for quality and safety data sources, including Vizient and the safety event reporting system.
  • Carries out maintenance tasks on assigned analytics resources/programs/systems with assistance from senior personnel when necessary.
  • Provides prompt responses to customer problems and inquiries. Prioritizes customer experience in all operations.
  • Uses diplomacy to handle conflict with peers without allowing personal feelings to influence or impact the outcome negatively. Respects, shares, and cooperates with fellow teammates and acts with Integrity.
  • Follows all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor and implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the fields of Healthcare Quality and Safety and data analytics by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and meeting with other healthcare analytics professionals to ensure the latest analytics resources are available and appropriately used at Parkland.
  • Accepts direction from more senior analysts and supervisor and works to improve technical and professional skills through contact and interaction with other analytics and IT professionals. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
