Position Summary:

The Transportation & Infrastructure Data & Research Associate reports to the Senior Director of
Transportation & Infrastructure at Thrive Regional Partnership. Through effective volunteer engagement and management, the position is responsible for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, and monitoring of multiple projects. This position will support efforts of marquee initiatives, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams of volunteers and stakeholders to ensure the efficient movement of people, products and data throughout the tri-state region, strengthening regional economic vitality and improving the quality of life for the people throughout the places we call home.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

● Contribute to the planning and design of transportation and infrastructure research and creative projects

● May assist in both short-term and long-term planning and project goals, as well as in research, creative proposals, and dissemination of project findings

● Coordinates data collection efforts for one or more research projects which may include other collaborating agencies or higher education institutions

● Assists in maintaining Thrive’s transportation database, the Greater Chattanooga Freight Hub
(GCFH), including identifying what needs to be tracked, supporting tool development, providing data analysis, and supporting testing

● Assists in training partners on tools within the GCFH, including initial onboarding and at regular intervals

● Provides a level of IT support for users needing help with the database
● Build an understanding of emerging opportunities in related projects, and monitor trends and indicators relevant to the program’s mission and success
● Identify opportunities for community engagement and cultivate new and existing partnerships
● Monitor developments in federal and state transportation & infrastructure policy
● Coordinate and provide administrative support for conferences, scheduling meetings, including setting up registration and event pages, managing promotional material
● Work alongside Senior Program Director and Communications Director to update content for programs, departmental web pages, and other documents as needed
● Provide assistance and support at program events and activities as needed
● Familiarity with web‐based platforms (ex. Esri ArcGIS Online, GSuite) and/or capacity to learn and new systems; handle data entry for the team as needed
● Develop and maintain community relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the program
● Collaborate with data partners and Thrive’s Communications team on outreach tools and strategies (i.e. Freight Data Hub, Broadband Data)
● Collaborate with the Communications Department on storytelling in reports, digital media, videography, earned media, grant proposals, etc.
● Other duties as assigned

Non-Essential/Peripheral Functions:

● Involvement in civic or philanthropic organizations
● Involvement in professional organizations

Minimum qualifications:

● College degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project management. Advanced degree and/or certificates in computer-based mapping and spatial data analysis a plus.

● Knowledge of cultural diversity within demographic, rural, suburban, and urban communities.
● Experience in effective leadership and management with a proven ability to work independently to successfully organize and prioritize multiple projects.
● Proven ability to work collaboratively and build consensus.
● Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with professional attitude and demeanor.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to legally work in the U.S.

The salary range for this role is $38,000-$44,000, plus benefits.
