OBJECTIVE: To provide delivery and pick-up service to customers, shipping and receiving and perform other transportation service activities.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: The incumbent in this position reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the delivery service vehicle assigned to him/her, as well as efficient and accurate delivery of product to the customer.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:

1. Standard light weight delivery trucks or vans equipped with the common tools required for emergency road service and repair.

2. Cell phone, computers, hand trucks and safety equipment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES (TYPICAL ACTIVITIES):

1. Makes daily delivery and pick-up calls in accordance with assigned route.

2. Fills in and maintains daily delivery logs.

3. Uses computer systems provided to print packing slips and record all required shipping data.

4. Obtains receipts for reimbursement of expenditures for gas, oil, tolls, etc., and turns them in daily.

5. Reports any customer complaints or comments to Director of Operations.

6. Maintains cleanliness, reliability and safety of company vehicles.

7. Assists in maintaining organization and cleanliness of dock.

8. Helps with shipping and receiving function as needed.

9. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Attendance, conduct, appearance, and professionalism must meet the standards set forth in the Employee Handbook in conjunction with New York and Federal labor law. These requirements may be further defined in the above Job Specific Requirements.

2. Standards of quality and productivity must consistently meet the expectations set forth in the Quality Standards program. Repetitive substandard results in quality of work will result in disciplinary action including possible termination.

3. Overtime response is key to successfully managing the highly variable workloads found in our industry. Overtime hours including Saturdays and Sundays may be required on a periodic basis as the workload demands.

4. Ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.

5. A valid Class D driver’s license is an essential requirement.

6. Ability to pass the Federal DOT4 physical is an essential requirement.

7. Ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers, suppliers and coworkers.

8. Ability to use a computer for the execution of responsible tasks.

9. Ability to use a company-provided or subsidized cell phone for required communication.
