In consultation with the marketing teams the Director, Media Center of Excellence leads and manages overall US consumer and HCP media planning and buying process for all Human Pharma and Animal Health advertised brands, with media spend in excess of $250 million across multiple different channels (print, broadcast, digital, social, etc.). Supervise a team of direct reports dedicated to the management of all aspects of consumer and HCP media. Insure strong media performance through auditing, ROI monitoring and implementation of fraud abuse controls. Work with multiple stakeholders (Marketing, Sourcing, Analytics, Media Companies, Media Agencies, ANA) to fully optimize media investment. This includes development of a deep understanding of brand objectives to properly develop media strategies to achieve those objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with Brand Teams to develop marketing objectives and strategies including budgets, brand KPIs, creative unit availability, seasonality and overall marketing strategies. Manage the relationship with the media agency to incorporate marketing objectives and strategies into media deliverables. Participate in and drive media plan development and approval. Approve upfront media buy. Creates stronger connections with our audiences and achieve marketing goals through media.
- Lead the optimization of media spend and monitor results through partnering with the media agency to review and optimize buys as needed based on monthly KPI performance. Initiate the ROI process by partnering with BI A&I to audit ROI performance of all consumer and HCP channels including digital by vendor twice a year. Monitor and adjust the TV media performance through A&I audit as well as TV post buys and third party audits.
- Lead the Media Center of Excellence strategy Development which can include centralizing all BI media spend at one consumer and one HCP media agency to enable buying/planning synergies and facilitate control. Move BI's fragmented media model to a centralized approach with appropriate controls. Proactively develop BI's media planning competencies, including establishing and deploying standards of excellence, knowledge sharing, and hands-on education.
- Leverage expertise in digital media as well as traditional media as a core competency to add value and guide the Media CoE. Create internal & external partnerships and be recognized internally within BI brand teams, A&I teams, external media buy community, as well as CX team as the expert media resource for best practices. Maintain subject matter expertise rooted in best practices and demonstrate new, innovative thinking.
- Manage performance of the media agencies formally and informally. Gain input from the Brand Teams and Sourcing to assess performance and document any issues that need to be corrected. Additionally, lead and manage a team of media professionals including their performance and development.
- Lead the development and management of media KPI's and tie KPI delivery to compensation. Partner with Sourcing and Brand Teams to manage overall media agency compensation.
- Deliver new innovative approaches to the Media CoE and bring an outside in approach. Develop external industry relationships with key media vendors to fully understand their offerings and keep BI top of mind for new editorial, sponsorship or technological opportunities. Search for advantageous pricing breaks including opportunistic buys.
Requirements
- BA/BS from an accredited institution required
- Minimum of ten (10) years media agency or client side media planning and buying experience required.
- Expert knowledge of the overall media landscape including digital communications space.
- Demonstrated and measurable experience planning, developing and implementing media plans, ideally cross-channel.
- Ability to work with multiple internal stakeholders, agencies and media companies.
- Full understanding of digital and social platforms.
- Require a strong understanding of media buy, placement, and tracking of quality/performance.
- Profound knowledge of current digital media trends and technologies including ad networks, exchanges, DSPs and RTB platforms; display, video and rich media advertising; programmatic buying, social media and mobile advertising; native ad units and content marketing, etc. strongly preferred.
- Experience working in regulated industries a plus.
- Experience working with campaigns targeting multiple customer groups a plus.
- Some travel (20%) including domestic and international overnight required.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- MBA desirable.
- Supervisory experience desirable.
- Experience with management of the US television upfront desirable.
- Media sales or Brand Management experience desirable.
- Experience with global media including media pitch management and support of larger country media planning and buying desirable.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
