Director of Ambulatory Operations, Women's and Children's Services (AMBUL CARE ADMSTN MGR 2) Job at UC Davis Health
Reports to the Executive Director of Ambulatory Operations and is responsible for the operational management of a portfolio within Women’s and Children’s Services for Ambulatory. This position advises the Executive Director of Ambulatory Operations on strategic planning, practice operations, system and program management in the ambulatory setting for hospital-based outpatient clinics and for those specialties present in community-based outpatient clinics. The incumbent is responsible for the direct operational management of various adult and pediatric specialty clinics to include OB/GYN, the fetal care treatment center, the prenatal diagnostic centers, pediatric specialties including pediatric surgery, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, infectious diseases, allergy, rheumatology, nephrology, dermatology, gastroenterology and the Mind Institute. In addition, provides support through matrixed management to pediatric neurology and pediatric cardiology. The incumbent evaluates the Practice Manager’s performance in close coordination with their respective clinic medical directors and provides oversight of practice operations to achieve optimal efficiencies while maintaining patient care standards. The incumbent establishes and/or monitors clinical financial and operational performance measures, practice standards, quality standards, personnel actions, customer service issues and sets rigorous performance objectives for Practice Managers.
The incumbent assesses new clinic program proposal and works with the Practice Managers and department physician leadership and other service departments to provide direction on program design, implementation and operations in the clinical setting. As new programs are planned, the incumbent reviews the clinic staff organization structure for appropriate and efficient utilization of positions to meet patient care and clinic performance goals. The incumbent leads clinic process design initiatives to increase clinic efficiencies improve financial performance and enhance patient satisfaction.
The incumbent works closely with other UCDH departments to ensure that clinic operational requirements are addressed and incorporated into the development, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring of systems in the hospital-based setting.In directing, planning and coordinating systems applications and technologies, the incumbent advises the clinic management leadership of operational impacts and outcomes. The incumbent collaborates with other user departments, including the ambulatory clinics, finance, HIM, Compliance, ancillary and inpatient departments, to ensure that information systems implementation and changes would address and integrate user needs across the spectrum of the Health System.

Must have a bachelor’s degree

Must have several years of management experience and demonstrated skill necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring and maintenance of departments financial, human, and facility resources. Possess the management, operational and regulatory healthcare administration knowledge and experience, and ability to learn UCDH operations in order to be effective resource to clinic managers, providers, and staff.

Master’s degree preferred in a related disciplinary field such as Health Administration, Business Administration or Nursing. If Master’s degree is not completed, applicant must complete it within three (3) years of hire.

Must be willing to travel to various clinic locations and have a flexible work schedule to accommodate meeting schedules at various locations.
