The Director of Curriculum and Instruction reports to the Head of School. This full-time 12-month position starts
July 1, 2023.



Opportunity:
The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is a newly formed position and an exciting opportunity for the right
candidate to help OLMA take an already strong academic experience and bring it to the next level. With a talented
faculty in place, the Director will work collaboratively to re-envision the faculty professional growth program and
provide professional learning opportunities to support our strategic vision. With deep expertise in best
pedagogical practices, the Director will lead innovations in curriculum, instruction, and assessment at OLMA.



Responsibilities:
Curriculum
  • Work with Faculty to oversee the development of scope and sequence of all curricula, ensuring its
continuity, consistency, rigor, and mission-alignment.
  • Support and foster interdisciplinary work, communication, and curriculum development.
  • Ensure that students and families receive direct and intentional education about Catholicism.
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects diverse peoples, histories, and narratives.
  • Oversee the quality and rigor of the coursework
  • Conduct a regularly scheduled review of departments and curriculum.
  • Coordinate programming such as Back to School Night, Academic Awards ceremonies and
parent-teacher conferences.
  • Promote the development of technology-enhanced teaching practice as well as all-school technology
initiatives.
  • Consider the curriculum through a lens of environmental sustainability and global citizenship, supporting
faculty with resources and opportunities to deepen expertise.


Personnel
  • Support the Head of School in recruiting and hiring new faculty.
  • Develop, manage and support new faculty program; facilitate onboarding of new hires.
  • Manage and implement the faculty professional growth program
  • Promote a student-centered faculty culture that is joyful, collaborative, and growth-oriented.
  • Provide formal and informal coaching and mentoring to faculty.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate teaching excellence, bringing attention to innovative programs,
student-centered learning, and real-world educational experiences.
  • Observe classes on a regular basis, providing supportive feedback, resources, and guidance.
  • Oversee faculty professional development to ensure that the faculty reflect on their craft and develop
techniques for enhancing their practice.
  • Manage the professional development budget and oversee the budget approval process.
  • Work with the scheduler and registrar/database manager as it pertains to the student experience.
Strategy / Leadership
  • Serve as a thought leader in the field of education, keeping current on educational trends, and
presenting at conferences and/or writing about the school’s program or other topics.
  • Support the Head of School to ensure that our academic program is aligned with the institution’s mission
and strategic direction.
  • Lead committees, task forces, or other action groups as needed to support the academic program of
the school.

  • An excellent educator who inspires others through the art and practice of teaching
  • A personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience building
inclusive curricula
  • A global mindset; experience developing global programs and curricula preferred
  • A growth mindset and the ability to model for others both the giving and receiving of critical feedback
  • Collaborative leadership style
  • Significant experience in teaching and/or academic leadership; multi-divisional school experience a plus
  • Experience with or interest in progressive/non-traditional teaching methodologies
  • Experience guiding people through change and providing support along the way
  • Experience with hiring, evaluating, and mentoring faculty
  • Excellent people skills, as well as verbal/written communication skills
  • Masters of Education and 5 years experience preferred
