Morningside University is now accepting applications for the position of Director of Donor Relations. The Director of Donor Relations will serve the mission of Morningside University by helping donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with this university. This will be accomplished by helping design, develop, and implement our major gift program. Must have the ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Impact the mission of the university by securing major gifts at the $25,000 to $100,000 level with the goal of raising $500,000 annually plus an additional $1 million in deferred gifts.
  • Manage portfolio of 125 donors and prospects.
  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools.
  • Work with the advancement leadership to align efforts and set goals.
  • Create and implement moves management plans.
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitations (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).
  • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics.
  • Maintain accurate and concise records of donor interactions and confidential donor information.

  • Operate from the highest level of ethics and adhere to the expectations of the “Donor Bill of Rights” and the fundraising “Code of Ethics”.
  • Collaborate as a positive team member within the advancement department and with the rest of the Morningside community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • 3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience and have shown an ability to secure individual and major gifts and meet objectives.
  • Ability to make donors feel valued and be sensitive to their needs.
  • Comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in your moves management process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
  • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule which includes some evening

hours and weekends for phone calls.

  • Strong writing and speaking skills and use them to compel individuals to action.
  • Organized, prepared, detail-oriented and follow through on promises.
  • A thirst for learning and personal growth.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
