Position Overview

The Director of Operations will oversee and manage all operations with overall responsibility for production, maintenance, quality, distribution, service and other production-related activities. The manufacturing plant is located in Arvine, CA.

Primary Job Roles

  • Plan, organize and direct optimum day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant, which include production of sheds, barns, playhouses, cabin shells and home offices to meet schedule and production
  • Oversee purchasing and flow of raw materials inventory
  • Increase production, capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining all quality standards.
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time completion to improve manufacturing output.
  • Improve assembly line operations based on lean, single piece, and flow of product
  • Assure timely and efficient delivery, installation and service of finished productsAllocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Help recruit and hire staff for the plant, delivery and service ensuring each hire is a good fit for the position.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Support strategic continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Commit to plant safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Insure distribution, service practices and equipment are DOT compliant
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Address any issues or grievances and administer Ulrich's disciplinary policy as required.
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

  • Maintain positive customer relations.
  • Additional administrative duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Business preferred
  • 5-7+ years of operations/plant management in a high-touch environment, preferably with wood materials and manufacturing

Knowledge:

  • Google Suites; Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems, preferably Infor
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Quality assurance, environmental health and safety management knowledge required
  • Thorough understanding of blueprints/AutoCad drawings

Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-starter and a team player that will thrive in an entrepreneurial/leadership environment
  • Ability to lead, coach, train, and mentor employees
  • Provide reporting for production output and shipping
  • Drive excellence throughout the manufacturing operations ensuring all quality standards are met
  • Support and demonstrate the company's vision by communicating the message effectively to all manufacturing team members
  • Must have a high energy level
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
