The Department of Parking & Transportation at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for Director of Parking & Transportation.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Lead and manage all divisions within P&T to accomplish organizational objectives.
- Manage and supervise staff, including performance management of direct reports.
- Control, coordinate, plan, and implement the departmental budget.
- Conduct executive-level planning, to include parking and transit management innovations and strategies,
- Serve as the primary face of the department, both internally and externally, establishing strong working relationships with other departments, committees, councils, and individuals at the University, in the region, in the profession.
- Serve as the developer and enforcer of operational and administrative practices, policies, and initiatives.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures for managing major events, construction impacts, emergency situations, and inclement weather.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: At least eight years of management experience in logistics or transportation or parking operations to include managing facilities, people, and resources.
Licensure: VA Commercial Driver's License Type A or B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements and positive point balance or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more of the following license/certifications: International Parking and Mobility Institute (IPMI) Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) or other applicable professional credentials (National Parking Association Certified Facility Manager, National Association of College Auxiliary Services CASP, project management, LEED, Emergency Operations, etc.).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Parking Management software (T2 Flex), Microsoft Office Suites, and/or Workday Financials software.
The Director of Parking & Transportation will report to Associate Vice President for Business Services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
The anticipated start date is May 1, 2023. Anticipated Hiring Range is commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position.
