The Philanthropy Director serves as a lead strategist for fund development by working with the CEO to set and achieve multi-year and annual revenue goals. The position will also take the lead in annual fundraising event(s) for the organization. The Philanthropy Director is a vital member of the leadership team and is expected to keep current on organization issues and contribute to the achievement of Kids Can’s vision.

Primary duties include donor cultivation, foundation research, grant writing, donor research and database, donor solicitation, and facilitation of fundraising campaigns and events. The position also assists and implements strategies to market Kids Can Community Center to funders, corporations, and the public.

Essential Job Functions

Fund Development:

· Achieve annual operating and capital revenue goals for organization

· Research foundations for potential grant opportunities

· Maintain and build strong foundation relationships to fund organization

· Manage grant reporting to ensure timely and thorough reports

· Write and manage United Way allocation proposal and required reporting

· Assist CEO and board with capital campaign

Events:

· Manage fundraising events including the annual luncheon

· Assist with ancillary fundraising efforts, campaigns and activities

· Communicate with board members for individual goals and action items.

Donor Acquisition & Stewardship:

· Develop plan to identify, cultivate and solicit potential donors

· Maintain donor records and recognition

· Initiate CEO opportunities to meet with potential and current donors

Communications:

· Build strong fundraising and related events communication plan for the website and social media

· Execute strategies and plans established by the organization including newsletters and news releases

· Provide timely communication on behalf of the CEO to appropriate foundations, board, volunteers, and other appropriate individuals.

Other Duties: Perform duties as assigned by the CEO or as the situation dictates.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects while being adaptable in a changing environment.

· Knowledge of fund development practices and approaches.

· Effectively communication mission and programs to motivate and inspire support.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet, social media, and some related software as needed, such as Bloomerang.

· Ability to problem solve and quickly adapt when needed.

· Excellent communication skills; work effectively as a team (communicate with others, resolve conflicts and offer solutions to problems).

· Ability to interact and communicate effectively with participants of diverse backgrounds.

Education/Experience Prerequisites:

· Required: bachelor’s degree, minimum of five years previous experience in fund development and/or grant writing.

· Preferred: master’s degree, Certified Fund-Raising Executive credential.

· A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Hiring is contingent upon approval from the Nebraska Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect, Nebraska Adult Protective Services Registry, Kids Can’s vehicle insurance company and submission of a felony/misdemeanor statement.

Ongoing/in-service requirements:

· Ongoing and one-time training opportunities related to fund development.

· Maintaining certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.

Working Conditions

Normal working conditions; work primarily in the office at 4768 Q Street in Omaha and off-site meetings.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $75,000 to $85,000 annual
