Veterans Community Project (VCP) Overview
Founded in 2016 in Kansas City, MO, VCP is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took the oath to defend our nation. The greatest barrier to ending Veteran homelessness is the revolving door of unstable housing and the frustrating maze Veterans must navigate in order to get basic support. We believe that to be an effective program, the first step is to connect Veterans and the community. VCP created an innovative homeless housing program and outreach assistance that provides inclusive services to aid Veterans in re-claiming control over their lives.

The Role
Oversee VCP programs and services to Veterans that reside in Veterans Village (Residential Program) and Veterans who seek services through the Veteran Outreach Center (Outreach Program) collectively referred to as Veteran Services (VS). This position is responsible for supervising and directing employees, budgets, technology, and operations relating to Veterans being served by VCP.
Position Duties & Responsibilities

General:
Implement and oversee all administrative operations, and internal programs & processes related to Veteran services.
Identify specific training needs, create & execute curriculums for all VSS Staff.
Evaluate performance of employees and implement corrective action when necessary.
Responsible for compliance with guidelines, internal policies, and quality standards of direct reports.
Connect with other community organizations and leaders to build connections, gain support, and troubleshoot issues or concerns.
Work with, and assist, the Development Department to achieve organizational fundraising objectives.
Administrative:
Assume responsibility of data in appropriate databases & distribute reports as directed.
Work with the Executive Director to create budgets for VSS programs.
Regularly review and recommend changes in program services to better meet Veteran needs.
Seek external guidance of program for evaluation and quality assurance purposes as well as monitoring support plans for Veterans.
Plan and organize program activities to maximize program goals and performance targets as outlined.
Review program and client data to make programmatic improvements.
Work with the Director of Programs to conduct periodic internal file review and implement quality assurance measures.
Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the VSS department.
Directly responsible for day-to-day management of the Lead Residential Case Manager and Lead Community Case Manager.
Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of the program to ensure that Veteran needs, agency standards and funding requirements are met.
Maintain documentation, Veteran files, and statistics as required by agency policies and funding sources.
Manage output tracking and reporting.
Use output data to manage staff and program performance.
Monitor trends and make informed decisions regarding service provisions.
Troubleshoot client and direct reporting staff program problems, and make decisions in accordance with VCP program policies, procedures, and best practices.
Collaborate with Development Department & administrative staff in grant writing and reporting.
Prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices, including researching programming trends and current practices being used.
Coordinate and supervise staff providing constructive feedback.
Recruit employees and volunteers to ensure VSS is staffed with qualified personnel.
Agency Responsibilities:
Participate with VCP leadership when needed.
Maintain a working relationship with outside agencies.
Meet regularly with the Executive Director for supervision and other departmental needs.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting and statistical information for management and regulatory agencies.
Competencies and Areas of Expertise:
Bachelor’s degree required unless internally trained candidate with minimum 2-year tenure at VCP.
Two years related work experience preferably in a Not-for-Profit environment.
Preferred military or Veteran-based experience
Two years of leading teams of 3 or more people and providing situation reports.
Intellectual Curiosity: Desire to continuously learn and grow. Curiosity to understand how your job impacts the work of others.
Priority Setting: Strong performance management and evaluation capabilities including the willingness and ability to ensure accountability. Spends his/her time and the time of others on what's important; quickly zeroes in on the critical few and puts the trivial many aside; can quickly sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a goal; eliminates roadblocks; creates focus.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have proficient computer skills.
Must be proficient in performing data entry, operating office equipment, and paying attention to detail.
Adept at conflict resolution.
