Job Summary
Leads the online and digital content strategy for the university. Develops, directs, and enhances the University's overall web presence to ensure strategic messages and content are woven throughout the website. Leverage the university's websites and online presence to reinforce the institution's brand and develop content that is compelling for key target audiences. Ensure best practices in emerging web-related trends and technologies are adopted to optimize usability, navigation, and ways to deliver and present online content.
Develop and publish content on the university's homepage and various websites while collaborating with colleagues in University Communications as well as other departments to collect, manage, produce, and edit content including written material, images, photography, video, and other types of digital content. Develop a coherent and consistent website that aligns with the university's visual identity system and implement content templates across units and departments.
Responsibilities
Leverages the website as a strategic medium to communicate the university's brand and integrate messages across different areas of the website.
Create micro-sites and develop additional web content to advance the university’s brand and align with the institution’s overall content strategy.
Direct the Web Communications team in the Office of University Communications while developing a collaborative relationship with the university's IT department along with content creators across academic and administrative departments.
Provide relevant training to other content editors across campus to cultivate a culture of creating relevant, timely and compelling content for stakeholders across campus.
Manage content migration and site redesign activities, create new websites, and adapt existing templates to support university priorities and align with overall content strategy.
Work with campus stakeholders and University Communications staff to create and distribute e-newsletters with an emphasis on templates that maintain branding standards and meet high editorial standards along with aesthetic appeal.
Conducts usability studies to improve the website and user experience while ensuring content remains ADA compliant.
Monitor and analyze relevant web trends, metrics, and indicators to measure effectiveness of the institution's web and social media strategy.
Manage the content on the university's homepage, ensuring appropriate and timely updates relevant content – including photography, spotlights, videos, and other forms of content.
Manage and develop familiarity with the university's content management system to ensure coherency across central administrative and academic websites.
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience progressively managing web content, supporting website migrations, and developing and populating content templates in a web-centric environment.
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to marketing, mass communications, humanities, social sciences, business administration, information systems or a related degree.
Familiarity with content management systems and web design principles.
Ability to work independently as well as within teams.
Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed.
