Job Description
Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a creative and innovative Senior Associate to contribute to drug discovery in an exciting, and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work in a team setting for culture, scale up and differentiation of recombinant, primary human progenitors, stem cells, and 3D organoids. The candidate will be responsible for the utilization and support of automated systems to enable production of human cells at drug discovery scale. The position requires a high degree of reliability, independence, attention to detail, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively among a team to culture recombinant and/or primary cells at a drug discovery scale.
- Conducts complex, multi-component experiments independently.
- Operate state of the art instrumentation and liquid handling equipment
- Collaborate with engineering team on implementation, troubleshooting and training of deployed automated platforms.
- Participates in planning of experiments and executes on new ideas to scale cell models and technologies.
- Recognizes problems and conducts troubleshooting on a routine basis.
- Clearly and effectively communicates information within the team and present at internal group meetings.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in biological sciences or a related field and 1-2 years experience in a research laboratory.
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field and 3+ years experience in a research laboratory.
- Experience working with laboratory instrumentation including complex troubleshooting
- Experience with techniques required to culture primary human cells and/or stem cells
- Excellent communication skills and adaptive to a time-line driven work environment
- Exceptional multitasking skills, attention to details and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability and willingness to work rotating weekend shifts according to business needs
Salary range: $70,400 - $105,600 annually
Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
