Job Summary

This role has complete responsibility for inbound operations, outbound operations and functional process responsibility within the fulfillment center across two shifts.

The Sr. Supervisor directly oversees 5 salaried departmental Supervisors and an hourly workforce of 140. Scope of responsibility include managing job assignment for operational teams on a day-to-day basis, monitoring workflow or queue adherence, volume, and quality. Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders in the team to develop the work schedule for the week by balancing capacity across various workflows and/or navigating competing delivery priorities. Work closely with partners in analytics teams and other stakeholders in a variety of roles within Alexa. Liaise with team’s global and specialized program managers to surface risks & propose mitigation strategies for meeting SLAs. Track quality and utilization metrics for directs. Ensure productivity is maximized through supervision, training, analysis, and feedback of performance data on a periodic basis. Provide regular, formal & informal feedback for direct reports. Drive performance management tasks including promotions, development opportunities, and assignment of leadership/growth opportunities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Distribution Manager to meet goals, budgets, and quality levels within the department.
  • Select, train, and coach team members to maintain a successful, positive environment.
  • Assists team and works with other departments to remove barriers and obtain resources to achieve all goals
  • Maintain strong employee relations through various proactive formal and informal departmental communication strategies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily issues in cooperation with Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service, and Maintenance.
  • Manage the plant continuous improvement program centered on driving improvements in cost, productivity, quality, team member involvement and morale.
  • Provide targets or daily goals to the team per the production or priority schedules
  • Consistently apply company policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, or business administration preferred, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 + years experience supervising/managing distribution operations.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements

  • Knowledge of truckload, LTL, and parcel shipment methods required.
  • Knowledge of WMS and inventory systems required.
  • Experience with implementing and managing Lean Manufacturing, 5S Principles, safety requirements, and continuous improvement programs/projects preferred.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma Principles and Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Previous work experience in a union environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with a wide range of employees to meet departmental goals.
  • Logistics / carrier management experience a plus.
