WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a few exceptional dog lovers to join our team! We don’t mean “you like dogs” or feel that dogs are “fine, I guess”. We mean, you’ve likely said the phrase, “Can I pet your dog?” to more strangers than you can count.

WE OFFER:

- Personal route: Unlike being sent blindly to new dogs and new areas, One Leg Up can help you develop a routine that will be both efficient (having you spend more time walking and less time driving) and filled with familiar faces (which will support the growth of a genuine bond between you and the dogs)

- Open dialogue with clients: Real time chat with owners to ask questions about their dog or any details necessary for the dog’s care

- Team environment: Access to other team members to support you and make you feel like a part of the family; Holiday parties with clients and team members, local events with the company and its team members ect.

- Supportive management that is hands on: Managers are simply a call or text away throughout your entire shift and completely willing to answer any questions you may have.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY WOULD LOOK LIKE:

- Arrive at the Head Quarters of the business

- Refresh your schedule through our providing software, “Time to Pet” and review your list of dogs for the day

- Gather keys to corresponding dogs and head out to your first stop

- Use your vehicle and follow the gps to each home you go to.

- Once you arrive at the home, Read through the notes each owner writes to describe how to enter their home, details about their pet’s personality and triggers, and instructions on where dogs are held in the home

- Leash Up the dog and Lock the door behind you

- Start the timer for the walk ( a feature provided in our software, “Time to Pet”)

- Take a few cute photos of the dog during the walk and write a ending report summarizing the entire walk (things like: The dog’s reaction when you arrived, cute things that happened on the walk, how the dog’s mood that day was, etc. )

- Return the dog to the home and follow this same process for all of your stops

- End your day returning all clients’ keys at the Head Quarters of the business

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Friendly and outgoing with excellent customer service skills.

Availability during peak walking times and plans to walk for at least 6 months with us. Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm is when we are busiest. The dog walking position requires you to be available Monday to Friday from 10:45am-4pm. Some weekend walks, early morning, and evening opportunities come up as well but are not mandatory - just a way to make some extra income.

Previous experience working with dogs is desirable.

You'll need to be 18 or over

Own a smart phone AND a reliable car

Pass a criminal background check and our basic dog handling test
