This position will be responsible for performing insurance verification prior to all patient appointments with Optum providers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to verification of insurance eligibility through Allscripts, phone contact with medical insurance companies and phone contact with patients prior to their appointment to update demographics or discuss coverage information. The eligibility specialist will navigate multiple payor portals to verify eligibility and benefits on the patient’s behalf. The eligibility specialist will also be responsible for reviewing accounts post-visit to ensure accuracy prior to billing.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Verify all insurance coverages, including commercial, workers' compensation, auto, and Medicare/Medicaid either via portal or phone
- Ensure that patient accounts are correctly flagged within the EMR
- Maintain knowledge of payor contracting to ensure appropriate coverage for the patient
- Maintain a positive attitude toward clients, patients, and co-workers
- Communicate clearly and professionally with peers and patients
- Attention to detail
- Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 1+ years of applied knowledge in a managed care environment and solid working knowledge of medical terminology
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in computer data entry and telephone customer service
- 1+ years of insurance verification experience

Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $16.00 to $23.51.
