Position Summary:

Under the direction and guidance of the Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement, the Director of Alumni Engagement executes the engagement strategy for Campbell University’s 52,000 alumni.

The Director of Alumni Engagement supports the strategic plans for alumni engagement supporting the Alumni Association’s mission of promoting the best interests and increase the usefulness of Campbell University and to continue and create mutually beneficial relationships between the University and the members of the Association.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works to promote meaningful relationships between alumni and current students through programs such as but not limited to CamelLink. Through these efforts, the director will cultivate and maintain on-campus partnerships identifying student and faculty needs which alumni are able to support.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to foster the Legacy tradition at Campbell through various programs including communications and recognitions programs.
  • Leads the Orange Owned program, aiming to grow the database of alumni-owned businesses, recognizing their accomplishments, and connecting them to additional alumni engagement and on-campus opportunities.
  • Supports the goals of the Alumni Board of Directors in collaboration with the Associate Vice President.
  • Engages with regional alumni networks through collaborative promotion of events and programs hosted by the Office of Alumni Engagement.
  • Leads planning and implementation of alumni engagement strategic events.
  • Supports the strategy of the Office and the Association using CRM Analytics and engagement scoring.
  • CamelLink is a priority program for alumni engagement. This role will focus on growing meaningful connections between students, alumni, and faculty by collaborating on the marketing and communication plans, Career Services and other on campus partnerships, and implementing mentoring best practices within the program that support the University’s focus on career readiness.
  • Orange Owned seeks to recognize and celebrate our alumni who own their own business. This position cultivates relationships with these alumni and works to recognize and promote their efforts. Focused travel for this program is required.
  • The Alumni Association hosts several signature events. This role is responsible for the logistical planning and execution of these events. Events take place throughout the year and are supported by the Alumni Engagement office and alumni volunteers. This role is the key point of contact for these signature events plus others as necessary: Homecoming, Reunion 0, Golden Club Reunion, Welcome to the City, and Legacy Lunch.
  • Intentional travel is required for effective relationships management with alumni and key alumni volunteers.
  • Collaborate and participate in stewardship efforts with University Advancement
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by all Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal guidelines.
  • Other job related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of significant customer relations, volunteer management, higher education, or nonprofit organizations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Time management and thoughtful prioritization to balance the magnitude of responsibilities
  • Self-motivated and self-starting taking ownership of program and event success
  • Goal oriented and a desire to grow the Alumni Association’s programs
  • Strong attention to detail understanding their role is a reflection on the University, our Association, and our office team
  • Strong understanding of volunteer management including recruitment, retention, and recognition
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences through both oral and written channels. Audiences will include alumni, students, employees, and donors
  • Possess a high level of writing, editing and general communication skills and effective public relations practices, with knowledge of AP Style
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word with familiarity with Wordpress CMS
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, trustees, faculty, staff, students, and the public
  • Effective decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects, and still meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to organize, direct, prioritize, and delegate work appropriately
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials, and the public
  • Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
