Engineer II – Electrical Controls I4.0

Your responsibilities
The electrical controls engineer provides electrical engineering and controls engineering services supplied by the manufacturing engineering department to the assigned value stream or site. The electrical controls engineer supports production equipment, operations and processes. The electrical controls engineer designs, installs, maintains, and improves efficiency of the electrical hardware and software of production equipment, systems, and processes as it relates to safety, quality, delivery and cost. They design, install, maintain, and improve efficiency of the electrical hardware and software of production equipment, machine connectivity systems, IT security and processes as it relates to safety, quality, delivery and cost.
· Standardization of electric controls for process and factory equipment
· Develop and maintain equipment standards which are the foundations for the procurement, manufacture, and maintenance of production equipment in terms of cost, availability, process safety, reliability, ease of use and ability to repair equipment.
· Planning and acquisition of equipment
· Responsible for the electro-mechanical and electrical parts of the equipment through coordinated planning, design review, acquisition, and implementation of production equipment concept development and assessment. Including examination, comparison and determination of the components and technologies implemented.
· Incorporate optimization of existing automation systems and production equipment with the aim of increasing process safety, machine availability or further developments.
· Analyze existing machines, define improvement measures and coordinate the implementation.
· Offer expert advice and support Electronic and Maintenance Technicians in problem situations with the aim of returning process equipment back into production while producing the highest quality product.
· Archiving and maintaining of the technical documentation with the appropriate software and ensure that the manufacturing facilities and electrical maintenance groups have the updated documents and programs available at all time.
· Planning and implementation of modifications with fabrication and assembly equipment in coordination with the concerned departments and contractors.
· Preparation of maintenance work to increase the service life of equipment and devices.
· Assisting the planning departments in improving the maintainability of new machines
· Travel to equipment supplier during pre-acceptance runoffs and participate in handover activities of equipment to the end-user department.
· Study and understand product requirements and how the electrical design of machinery can help to meet those requirements. Implement control changes where needed to meet these requirements.
· Acts as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams.
· Leads as the project manager for automation and connectivity of shop floor data (IIoT) acquisition.
· Build the interface of machine and production areas into the MES and Enterprise System infrastructure.
· Layout HMI panels with integrators to determine proper configuration for all machine functions and ensure the equipment interface is user-friendly.
· Performs work under minimal supervision
· Handles moderately complex to complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
· May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to Engineer I
· Support the creation and implementation of latest standards in electrical engineering, machine connectivity and industrial IT security
· Development and Rollout of PLC Software for machines, consulting and guiding of external suppliers
· Creation and implementation of concepts in the area of electrical engineering with focus on digitalization, connectivity and industrial IT security for new product platforms
Your profile
· BS Degree in engineering , preference for electrical or Computer Science
· Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems, Data Analytics Tools (PowerBI, SQL) and Cloud Computing (Azure and DataBricks).
· IT in manufacturing skills (servers, network, database, backup, IPC’s).
· Electrical and controls systems, circuits, components, and software knowledge (Siemens TIA portal, SEW configuration, MOVITOOL, IFM, PNOZ, etc)
· Working knowledge of Industrial robotic programming
· Proven experience in PLC programming (Siemens preferred, Allen Bradley, etc)
· Experience with application programming (C++, Visual Basic, etc)
· Use of Computer Aided Design and Software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, etc)
· Understanding and applicability of the National Electric Code
· Understanding of data collection methods and storage
· Proper use of digital multimeters, machine vision systems (Keyence, Cognex, etc), high potential testers
· Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
· Four-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical field of study from an accredited school – Required
· Travel – 10%
· 3-5 Years of experience with hands-on manufacturing (discrete manufacturing environment preferred) - Required
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the maximum payout potential is 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
