Creates, maintains, and modifies manufacturing processes for operations. Creates and manages BOMs, submits and gathers drawing approvals, and assists the shop when needed. Provides manufacturing support and interface with engineering to validate process designs. Communicates with production/quality/supply chain/EHS/ logistics and other facility support groups.

Education / Training:

  • Vocational / Technical School or Associates Degree with a certificate in machining or technology or equivalent experience; bachelor’s degree helpful;
  • 2 years CNC Tech Experience.

Key Job Elements:

Duties and responsibilities (Note: duties/qualifications required will depend on assigned division):

  • Performs process design/layout and creates documentation for new products / processes or existing product/process improvement;
  • Maintains drawings of production tooling and updates and modifies as necessary;
  • Reads and interprets customer specifications; meets and communicates with design engineers to clarify needs;
  • Coordinates with vendors to best spec out tooling components;
  • Coordinates with purchasing to attain best product for best value;
  • Develops bills of materials;
  • Creates / Troubleshoots CNC programs;
  • Manages implementation of Engineering Change Notices;
  • Coordinates rework on machines with shop / production personnel; assists shop personnel with troubleshooting prototype / first run machines;
  • Releases finished projects to manufacturing;
  • Identifies continuous improvements for cost out, shop floor and value-added engineering;
  • Assists/trains other employees when needed; helps with shop issues when they arise;
  • Performs additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NX / TeamCenter proficiency;
  • Strong math background, specifically geometry and trigonometry;
  • Ability to read and understand specification and standards documents;
  • Communication skills (both oral and written), multi-tasking, and organizational skills;
  • Strong attention to detail; strong problem solving, investigative and collaborative skills;
  • High level of interpersonal skills; ability to work together in a team environment;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction;
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Blueprint Reading.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

  • Strength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment. Frequent sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting (up to 30 pounds);
  • Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment.
  • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
  • Work Environment – Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE;
  • Emotional Demands –Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires attention to detail while sustaining very high standards;
  • Safety – Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to industrial areas.
