The Engineering Technologist is a critical role, supporting the reverse engineering, mechanical design and metrology duties at Lark Maintenance Center and other fleet technical groups. The primary focus of this individual contributor is to provide 3D modeling and design drawings for part manufacturing. Other support functions include new part inspection, creating data sheets for equipment repair records, various applications of field metrology and maintaining the proper upkeep of all Reverse Engineering Department equipment and software.
Basic Requirements
  • Basic understanding and ability to develop a high level of competence with mechanical design software such as Inventor
  • Ability to read and interpret and create mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually on projects.
  • Proficiency in using Precision measuring and test equipment
  • Understanding of general mechanical design principles and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Good numeracy and computer skills (Office 365, EXCEL, etc.)
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
Basic Required /Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology
  • In Lieu of Degree – HS Diploma / GED and 4 years equivalent industry experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of basic principles of project management.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Associate degree or Certification in Drafting or Engineering Technology, Manufacturing technology or related area of study and 5 years of relative experience
  • Previous experience as a mechanical design technician, especially in a reverse engineering role
  • Working knowledge of generation equipment
  • Experience working with Hexagon or other portable metrology equipment
  • Experience working with Inspire Metrology Software
  • Experience with other test equipment such as XRF material analyzer gun, Bench and portable hardness tester, surface finish tester
Working Conditions
  • Ability to acquire Cranes, Lifting, and Rigging, Forklift qualifications
  • Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting at a desk, and body positioning may be required
  • Multiple working environments including in the station, lab, or shop.
  • 4 /10 hr days, but subject to change.
  • Some overtime required
