Farr West specializes in water and wastewater utility design and water resources. Our clients are primarily municipal utilities in northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe Basin/eastern Sierra. We are looking for an entry-level hydrogeologist. Candidates with a desire to develop their career in groundwater investigations and groundwater development including well design with client and professional responsibilities are encouraged to apply. The ability to travel to diverse project sites including rural locations in the western US is required. Project work can require extended periods of time in field as well as a significant portion of time in the office. Applicants must be comfortable working around drill and pump rigs with extended work schedules.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Project preparation, execution, and reporting for field groundwater studies in support of groundwater supply and well rehabilitation/investigation projects.
  • Preparing a variety of plans and specifications related to hydrogeological field activities.
  • Performing field inspections (geologic borehole logging including the use of the USCS classification and assisting in well designs).
  • Overseeing construction projects:

o Monitoring wells, production wells, and aquifer storage and recovery wells

o Conducting well performance and aquifer testing

o Collecting water samples, oversee well rehabilitation and troubleshooting

o Analyzing complex data (identify data anomalies, interpreting data, creating representative graphs, contour data, and evaluate aquifer test data)

  • Preparing a variety of reports (work plans, well construction summaries, tables, maps, graphs, as-built and cross-sectional drawings).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology. Degree in geological sciences or engineering with course work specific to hydrogeology will also be considered.
  • Candidates must possess knowledge of hydrogeologic processes and principles.
  • Excellent writing skills are required.
