Our team is expanding and looking to add an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.
Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) ensuring facilities are compliant with MIOSHA and federal laws. Participate in ISO 14001 performance and certification. Develop, implement, and monitor environmental strategies that promote sustainable development. Implement employee training, communicate with managers to identify training needs, and map out development plans for teams and individuals to stay compliant with applicable laws. Other duties include:
- Lead the implementation of all EH&S policies and procedures and measure the effectiveness of results
- Oversee Safety compliance, policies, and procedures. Including PPE, auditing, and reporting to regulatory bodies
- Oversee and enforce compliance with Group and National Standards
- Prepare, improve, and deliver safety orientation
- Facilitate regular education and training sessions related to EH&S, MIOSHA, ISO, and State and Federal regulations
- Complete the Job Hazard Assessments for Company Job Descriptions
- Provides regulatory and permitting expertise to ensure appropriate permits and reporting mechanisms are in place to comply with federal, state, and local EHS regulations and corporate requirements
- Provide Environmental, Health & Safety support to Plants, Customer locations, and R&D Center
- Participate in ISO performance and certification process and audits
- Develop plans for recycling, pollution control, and pollution prevention
- Liaison with regulatory bodies such as Environmental agencies and ISO audit personnel
- Keep up to date with changes in environmental legislation
- Implement and assist with facility security procedures and processes
To be a qualified candidate you must have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years of closely related experience, with professional certifications and a strong understanding of OSHA standards
- Thorough knowledge of both State and Federal safety, health, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to lead training and meetings. Present information in a professional, clear format to others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Manufacturing environment experience desired, automotive a plus
- Ability to maintain all certifications needed for regulatory compliance, including, ISO Lead Auditor, Train the Trainer, and ALICE Instructor
