Position Summary and Job Duties
This is responsible skilled work in the performance of maintenance and construction of County roads and facilities. Work involves a combination of manual tasks and equipment operation of average complexity. This position requires previous experience or specific knowledge of equipment operation associated with road construction and maintenance. Work is usually performed high degree of independence under the general direction of a supervisor and is subject to review and evaluation of performance.
80% Operates and maintains vehicles and equipment:
excavators, and various other types of maintenance and construction equipment.
10% Perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
10% Performs other duties as assigned.

- Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment such as large trucks, bulldozers, cranes,
excavators, and various other types of maintenance and construction equipment.
- Performs a variety of manual tasks.
- Removes snow and maintains roadways using snow plows, wings, underbelly blades,
10% Perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
- Inspects equipment prior to use for safety and maintenance issues.
- Performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Keeps equipment clean and in good working order.
- Become familiar with latest procedures.
- Attend all required safety related trainings.
- Report all accidents in a timely manner.
- Completely fill out and hand in time sheets on time.
- Fill out log book if one has been issued to you.
10% Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements, Education, Training & Experience

- Shovel gravel from gravel box to wheel barrow.
- Lift snow fence, push and roll it up to 50 feet and install using post pounder.
- Shovel/push snow by hand.
- Lift 8 foot high stop sign and hold in place.
- Shovel asphalt.
- Bend, squat, kneel in order to perform maintenance activities.
- Climb ladder.
- Enter and exit truck cab by stepping onto a stair 24 inches from the ground.
- Work for a sustained period of time on ladders to cut tree branches, repair signs and perform truck
Equipment use:
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment such as single, multiple axle and four wheel
etc.
- Ability to operate chain saws and various other types of maintenance and construction equipment.
Working conditions:
- Duties are performed mainly outside involving exposure to all weather conditions.
