Exercise Specialist - Part-Time/Non-Student - REMOTE Job at University Enterprises, Inc.
The Kinesiology Department on Sac State campus is looking for a part-time employee to serve as a Exercise Specialist. As an exercise specialist in training and data management, you will play a key role in clinical research studies by providing video-supervised remote exercise sessions to study participants with chronic conditions (i.e., chronic kidney disease). You will collaborate with other exercise specialists to build personalized exercise sessions according to the study protocol and discuss participant adherence and progress. You will conduct personalized one-one video-supervised exercise sessions using a video-conferencing platform (i.e., Zoom). You will be responsible for assisting study participant with manipulating their heart rate sensors, acquiring, and reporting exercise data in the research study database, and monitoring participant adherence. Monthly time commitment is estimated to 8-10 hours per study participant that you will undertake.
Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI positing should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

Additional Work Schedule
Casual employees are limited to 19.5 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday).
M inimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in personal training and/or group exercising.
- Strong work ethics, communication, and organizational skills.
- Expertise in using Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, powerpoint, share point, teams), and Google Calendar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor in Kinesiology or Exercise Science or personal training/exercise physiology professional certification.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build exercise sessions that are tailored to study participant’s physical capabilities and consistent with the study protocol.
- Conduct remote video-supervised exercise sessions and functional assessments.
- Schedule exercise sessions, post them on study shared calendar, and send email reminders to participant.
- Monitor adherence and participant progress.
- Assist participant with study technology tools such as heart rate sensor, video-conferencing platform (i.e., Zoom), and remote data acquisition.
- Report data into the secure research database platform RedCap
- Create professional exercise videos and upload them on a video hosting platform (i.e., Vimeo)
- Collaborate weekly with research team and principal investigators.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an home office environment.
