Job description
We are a Broward County Family Law firm that is seeking a full-time Experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistance. Prior legal experience (which may include attending a paralegal program) is REQUIRED, and experience in Family Law is preferred. We seek an applicant who is professional, maintains exemplary verbal and writing skills, and is a quick learner. We are seeking someone who is interested in a long-term career in the legal industry and specifically, our law firm. Please do not apply if you lack prior job stability. Our firm's practice is 99% family law and mediation and we represent clients throughout the South Florida area. We are extremely busy and offer a congenial and family atmosphere.
This position also involves dealing directly with clients so a professional appearance is required. However, because we are a small firm, this position requires an individual who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves to do what it takes to get the job done. The specific tasks involved with this position are as follows: *Conduct brief interviews with potential clients
* meet with clients to obtain information and documentation necessary to
comply with mandatory disclosure, including financial affidavits and other discovery.
* Communicate with clients in writing and on the phone in order to obtain the information and documentation referenced above
* Follow-up with clients on a timely basis when needed
* Keep electronic and hard copy files updated.
* Review and analyze discovery including tax returns, bank statements, pay
stubs and other documentation necessary for data entry into DPA and draft
initial discovery responses
*Assemble, scan and E-file all pleadings and follow up to ensure they are
accepted by the e-filing system
* Retrieve e-filed pleadings and ensure they are timely calendared and
docketed.
We are seeking someone who can take specific instructions and work well on their own and be self-sufficient. Some of the additional attributes that we are seeking include the following: You must be able to utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize your work. Ability to take the initiative and exercise analytical and independent judgment. Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to prepare concise and accurate written communication and data entry. Must use correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Florida E-filing and CMS, Excel,Timeslips and DPA, working knowledge of Clio or similar case management program. Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
