This position is 12-Month, Non Tenure-track
The successful candidate will:
The successful candidate will:
- Provide hands-on educational and technical information to county Extension faculty with 4-H and youth development responsibilities in 4-H, Ag and Natural Resources and related STEM areas.
- Serve as a liaison and maintain close working relationships with Ag and Natural Resource focused state agencies
- Work cooperatively with other state Extension specialists, faculty, and staff in developing and implementing multi discipline activities
- Develop curriculum as needed
- Acquire and sustain external funding as needed to support, develop, and implement 4-H Youth Development programs.
- Report youth development program impacts annually, write a Plan of Work, develop annual goals and objectives and complete other reports as required
- Coordinate livestock and horse schools, state shooting sports program, judging schools, Ag related contests at State Conference and work with all aspects of District Contests
- Master’s degree (in hand by hire date) in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Extension Education or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of county agent experience.
- Demonstrated experience effectively interacting and communicating (oral and written) with people of all ages, incomes, education levels, ethnic backgrounds and other areas of diversity and ability to develop culturally-relevant curriculum and educational programs to meet their needs.
- Experience with program evaluation and reporting outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret current research findings and make related practical recommendations to county faculty, volunteer leaders, and youth in diverse communities throughout New Mexico.
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel within state and out of state as necessary.
Ph.D or Ed.D. in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Extension Education or closely related field from an accredited university.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in program planning, implementation and evaluation; effectiveness in oral and written communication to a variety of audiences.
Ability to garner increased resources through grants, contracts and gifts.
Computer proficiency and the ability to use and promote the use of electronic and audio/visual communications technologies to develop and deliver educational materials and programming.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
