SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking Facilities Services Assistants to work full time for SJS in Norfolk, VA at Navy Public Works Department to help support their operations.

Pay for this position is $25/hr
. The benefits are 11 paid federal holidays per year, 56 hours of annual accrued Sick Leave (equivalent to 7 paid days off), and an employer-paid medical, health, dental, and life insurance bundle.

There are currently two (2) shifts available for this position:
1st Shift: 6am-2pm
2nd Shift: 2pm-10pm

This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal employees and service members.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive customer service requests via email, fax, or telephone. Information the customer provides must be evaluated while considering the possibility that the customer may be trying to influence the category determination.
  • Contact customers to obtain necessary information and clarification as required.
  • Create service requests in MAXIMO and enter all required data.
  • Determine whether request is routine or emergency, the craft/trade required to perform the work, the correct work center to receive the job, and the proper job order number to charge the work to. This will be done with little to no supervision.
  • Determine if the work request is for the site's facility maintenance department or another, such as Utilities or Environmental.
  • Creates the service request, submits it to become a work order and approves the work order, depending on if the request is a service or emergency and as per the various individual sites' specific rules governing submittal and approval. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping current on all rules governing work reception.
  • Mechanics, either electrical or mechanical, are required to secure all hazardous energy into or at work sites and lock and tag the isolating devices. Required to have tags and locks placed and recorded into a centralized tag log.
  • Receives mechanics' telephone calls to record a placed tag and lock and, using a computerized tag log program, and enter all required information. Must ensure that all required information has been provided.
  • Provides computer generated tag serial number.
  • Receives calls from mechanics to clear a tag and lock the mechanic’s place. This task involves calling up the tag, using the serial number provided by the mechanic, entering the required information to clear a tag, and providing the mechanic with a computer-generated clearing serial number.
  • The service requests support base critical missions in a broad range of areas such as communications, security, air operations, port operations, training, quality of life, and medical services. The lockout/tag out program is vital to ensure employee safety.
  • The purpose of this job is to provide centralized work reception and recording/clearing of low-voltage electrical and mechanical tags for all Public Works Departments in the NAVFAC MIDLANT AOR.
Qualifications:
  • The work requires practical knowledge, developed through on-the-job training or experience dealing with the operations, regulations, principles, and peculiarities of receiving work requests.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task are required for this job.
  • Incumbents must have a thorough knowledge of the uses and complexities of the computerized maintenance management program, MAXIMO or a demonstrated knowledge and ability to use computerized management systems of similar complexity.
  • While the position does not require intensive and specific trade knowledge, incumbents must have a sufficient knowledge of the range of work and services provided by the various trades at NAVFAC MIDLANT to assign the correct labor/craft code a service request. Candidates must have sufficient trade and facility vernacular knowledge in order to understand the work requests submitted by customers.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
