The Facilities & Operations Coordinator serves The Canby Center (TCC) staff, volunteers, and members by ensuring excellence in facility operations and logistical support. From managing facility and equipment readiness, to engaging volunteers, and moving a high volume of food and clothing donations, the Facilities & Operations Coordinator will be a self-starter, detail oriented, and the resident TCC safety champion.

Facility & Logistics Leadership – 40%

  • Collaborate with TCC staff and building expansion partners to maintain the utmost support for both building safety/expansion and program/guest services
  • Maintain professional and responsive relationships with TCC partner agencies, donation partners and facility/equipment vendors
  • Identify, source and create needed training content for staff and volunteers
  • Provide training, scheduling and direction to volunteers in facilities/logistics tasks
  • Coach community volunteers in job skill development tasks and support the overall satisfaction of the volunteer experience
  • Manage daily drive team volunteers in picking up food using TCC van

Food and Clothing Inventory Management – 40%

  • Oversee the safe movement of product, ensure proper weighing, logging and storing
  • Collaborate with Thriving Together program lead to make food receiving and distributing decisions
  • Manage setup and clean up of Harvest Share distributions
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory data, using software provided, ensuring the highest standards of integrity and safety in donation handling, reporting and distributing
  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiency in product and resource allocation, collaborate with Program Team to leverage new opportunities for greater excellence

Safety and Cleaning – 15%

  • Proactively manage the maintenance needs of the building, property, equipment and vehicles (forklift, pallet jack, refrigeration, sprinkler systems, van and the like)
  • Maintain relevant certifications in food handling and warehouse equipment safety
  • Identify unsafe conditions, report and repair them as needed
  • Ensure all areas remain clean, welcoming and well stocked
  • Communicate product restocking needs with reception for ordering
  • Manage yard & parking lot maintenance

Other support – 5%

  • Assist with TCC events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Capabilities

  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Bilingual is a plus, not required
  • Ability to self-direct attention to facility needs
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, some database and inventory management software experience a plus
  • Staff and/or volunteer management a plus
  • Compassion, empathy and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage changing priorities throughout the workday
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job

Work Environment/Environmental Condition:

  • Office, garage and storage unit environments, with local travel.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
