Our Work: Established in 1986, Pee Dee Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing sexual assault, family violence, and child abuse and to the needs of victims. The organization serves the seven-county Pee Dee Region of SC, including Florence, Darlington, Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, and Williamsburg Counties. In addition, the Durant Children’s Center also serves Sumter County.
Job Summary: The Director of the Family Violence Program, Outreach & Training, under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, is directly responsible for the overall administration of the Coalition’s community-based Family Violence Program including victim assistance, Alternatives to Violence offender intervention, outreach and training services and shall assist the Executive Director in developing any new initiatives. The Director will share leadership of the Community Victim Services program with the Sexual Assault Program, Outreach & Training Director, and provide leadership to direct services staff in designated counties.
Program Management:
- Ensure that the overall organizational goals and objectives of outreach and training, including prevention services and offender intervention, are met.
- Provide leadership and expertise to the family violence program in each county of service.
- Provide supervision to community victim assistance staff at various site locations.
- Provide leadership to the Alternatives to Violence program. Coordinate services to ensure internal collaboration with victim services, child witness services, and parenting referrals.
- Be familiar with all grants and ensure the completion of goals, objectives, and documentation requirements. Ensure timely reporting to relevant grantors (SCDSS, SCAG, PPP, etc.)
- Conduct needs assessments and identify gaps in services.
- Provide leadership and oversight of special projects as scheduled or as new initiatives are implemented.
- Provide supervision and evaluation to graduate-level interns assigned to the program.
- Assist with long-range program planning, including grant proposals.
- Maintain knowledge of current research information concerning legal, medical, psychological, and other areas related to family violence.
- Develop and implement specific strategies for outreach to hidden victims within the prison population of Pee Dee.
- Develop and implement specific strategies for outreach to hidden victims within the LGBTQ community.
- Represent the organization and its interests at state and regional functions and groups (task force, committees, etc.) as assigned.
- Review monthly statistics (victim assistance, offender services, and community education and training) to identify specific problems in service provision, incoming referrals, or the community’s response. Review annual stats for comparison data and signs of improvement or ongoing challenges.
Victim Assistance:
- Assist in providing or arranging for services to victims and their families, including crisis intervention, referral, advocacy, telephone counseling, and follow-up.
- Assist with the formation of a coordinated community response to include designated offenders
- Rotate with other staff to provide 24-hour on-call backup for volunteers.
- Ensure that the official records of the organization’s case files are maintained accurately and promptly.
- Ensure that all services are entered into Collaborate and that staff is entering family violence services accurately and in a timely manner.
Community Education and Training:
- Participate in the organization's community education and training component, including materials development, educational presentations, and special events.
- Assist with providing in-service trainings for professionals in the seven-county area and coordinate trainings as needed or desired.
- Assist with volunteer victim advocacy, support group facilitator, and speakers’ bureau trainings as needed.
- Support the Coalition’s efforts in planning, coordinating, and implementing special events (i.e., Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Stalking Awareness Month, Volunteer Recognition, etc.) and media activities.
General Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities shall include:
- Possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience in formulating and implementing policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively organize, motivate, and lead diverse staff representing multiple programs across seven counties
- Knowledge of the South Carolina legal system and community resources
- Comprehensive knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse victimization issues
- Provide effective crisis intervention, referrals, advocacy, and support to victims and their families
- Ability to interact well with diverse persons, organizations, or groups
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Prior nonprofit experience
- SC Driver’s License and dependable transportation
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Education, or Law with three years of experience in victim services
- Grant Management and Nonprofit Leadership Experience
- Five years of supervisory experience
Classification:
This position is classified as “Exempt” under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore exempt from all overtime rules. Minimum hours per week = 40.
