Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required, with 2 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Demonstration of prior experience in working with grants and contracts is preferred. The successful candidate must possess general knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices; ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis; ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines; strong mathematical and Excel skills with attention to detail. The candidate also must display excellence in customer service, as a true team player, and work with minimal direct supervision.
Duties and/or Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst – Grants reports to the Comptroller and/or their designee and performs the following duties:
1. Supports HVCC administration, faculty and staff, as needed, in the planning and development of applications to federal, state and local government grant programs;
2. Maintains both internal and external relationships supporting grant administration functions;
3. Manages ongoing communication related to current grants and contracts; this includes preparation and review of regular audits, reports, and projections in collaboration with colleagues across departments;
4. Conducts complex award management activities, including monitoring of restricted accounts, the timely spending of grant funds, and the submission of reports to sponsors;
5. Provides guidance to colleagues in support of grant and contract compliance, including sponsoring organization guidelines, internal protocols, instructions contained within grant documents, conflicts of interest, etc.;
6. Coordinates award set-up and participates in orientation of principal investigators and designated project personnel, including review of internal expense and reporting protocols;
7. Generates sponsored project invoices and prepares appropriate documentation for reimbursement by sponsors;
8. Drafts quarterly and final federal financial reports in accordance with grant requirements; performs federal cash drawdown;
9. Collaborates on new financial and/or operational tool evaluation and implementation;
10. Performs related duties as assigned.
This is a part-time benefitted, 25-hour work week position with an hourly rate of $25.54-$28.09.
