Position Description

The Front Office Clerk completes many administrative duties within the practice. They are responsible for moving the patients through the intake and checkout process. Front Office Clerks must ensure that all procedures are followed so that the medical team can concentrate on the well-being of the patients. Front Office Clerk must interact smoothly with back office personnel and will help in back office area, if needed, as well.

Position Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Screen calls, arranges appointments and referrals
  • Check patient in and out using proper procedures
  • Contacts patients to confirm or reschedule appointments
  • Type correspondence, reports, memos, and forms as requested by physicians and/or administration
  • Conduct insurance verifications on patients
  • Route inbound phone calls to the proper employee. Take clear and concise phone messages, if needed
  • Schedule and confirm appointments daily
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles and inquire on previous balances
  • Scan paperwork including new patient packets
  • Maintain inventory and submit front office supply order to administration
  • Keep front area neat and tidy at all times
  • Copy medical information as requested following proper procedures
  • Distribute and send mail, faxes and routine correspondence
  • Other duties or projects as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or a GED
  • Previous medical office experience preferred
  • Customer Service skills/experience
  • A great communicator, with exceptional writing and verbal skills
  • Works well in a multitasking role
  • Ability to project a professional image

Other Requirements

  • The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have prior experience
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Great attitude and teamwork
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Medical experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
