Corteva Agriscience has an opportunity for a Global Seed Production Research Lead at our Johnston, IA site.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivates and leads a global team of professional researchers focused on improving the process of seed production through sound science plans, data decisions, statistical validation, and deliberate execution of the improved processes.
  • Develops and maintains team focus on quality, reliability, yield, cost, and liberation of gross margin constraints.
  • Build team of scientific innovation leaders while maintaining a channel of talent through deliberate mentorships and relationships.
  • Actively engage in securing and protecting Corteva intellectual property through due diligence and appropriate third-party collaboration rapport.
  • Constantly challenging and questioning status quo, striving for a better, deliberate, and predictive future of seed production -ultimately business success.
  • Proactively seek feedback and maintain contacts across the seeds organization to learn, understand, and act on shifts in business strategy.
  • Work closely with R&D, Field Excellence, Digital, Compensation, Production Leads, Strategic Planning to proactively identify areas of opportunity that drive reliable yield globally.
  • Communicate and lead change management: Contribute to building an innovative culture that drives change, globally.
  • Visit Global production locations, fields and teams in person to build relationships, identify potential areas of improvement for the field and field team coaching with global standards and opportunities to align as top of mind. Focus is Yield, Quality, Reliability, and Costs.

Qualifications

Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Ph.D. in biological science and three to five years research experience, or M.S. with five to eight years research experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of agronomy and seed production equivalent to five years post Ph.D. experience or seven years post M.S. experience.

  • Proven experience in leading and influencing large diverse teams
  • Proven skills in effective communication, collaboration, management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to gain and build trust with people from diverse work and cultural backgrounds
  • Innovative, resourceful, and driven
  • Demonstrated understanding of the seed business and strong technical knowledge of seed production practices in corn, soybean, sunflower, canola, hybrid wheat
  • Connect well with people, build trust and establish a strong network within seed operations, across regions and across functions such as commercial, R&D, FS&D
  • Holds self and others accountable to timelines, deliverables, and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross regionally and cross functionally
  • Ability to influence with and without authority
  • Ability to manage and deal with conflict, ambiguity, complexity that occurs across locations and across regions
  • Demonstrated skills in statistics and data analysis and a working knowledge of machine learning models.
