We are seeking certified Government Underwriters to join our team here at Cake Mortgage. These individuals will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating mortgage loans issued by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) ensuring all required documentation is included and that the loan meets all guidelines and regulations.
. Requirements:

• Underwrite mortgage loan files per FHA, VA and agency compliance and investor guidelines
• Approve or approve with conditions loan submission after careful consideration and explore possible alternatives before resorting to a suspense or denial
• Assess the risk to the company and our investors to ensure salability of the loan after closing
• Re-reviewing files, signing off on conditions, and moving files to clear to close
• Work closely with operations staff while identifying opportunities to mentor and coach them increasing their knowledge and efficiency
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience underwriting VA, FHA, and Conventional loans
• Must have DE FHA (CHUMS I.D.) and VA (LAPP/SAR) credentials
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experienced in a fast-paced high-volume environment
• Experience with Encompass preferred
• Active experience underwriting Conventional, FHA and VA loans for the past 24 months
