General Description
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are interested in gaining on-the-job experience in metal fabrication to join our team. Generally, this position involves cleaning and preparing miscellaneous metals and structural parts for welding and paint. The Grinder will learn and operate a variety of power and hand tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Following directions under limited supervision.
2. Provide weld clean-up and ensure parts are paint ready.
3. Assist and support all BCT team members and departments when needed.
4. Identify and use proper consumables for appropriate prepping methods depending on the alloy.
5. Proper PPE and safe working methods is a must. PPE is provided
6. Identify and prepare parts for fabrication according to cut lists, drawings, and leader direction.
7. Operate angle grinders, die grinders, pencil grinders, belt sanders, and other power tools to debur and grind parts.
8. Examine work pieces for defects and report issues as necessary to the Fabricator or Supervisor.
9. Lifting and loading parts onto shelves and welding tables.
10. Occasional mobile prepping when needed.
11. Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts.
12. Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
13. Exceptional attendance.
14. Keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

- Good communication skills required.
- Math skills and ability to efficiently read a tape measure and other inspection tools required.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
Education and/or Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- No previous experience required but is beneficial.
- Knowledge and experience with basic hand tools.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to sit and use foot/feet to operate machinery. The incumbent will regularly talk and listen, climb or balance and reach above shoulders. He/she will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and move from place to place. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. The employee will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver several hundred pounds a short distance. The employee will frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Employees will frequently use material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cranes.
Work Environment
This job operates in a factory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is often loud enough to require hearing protection.
