Facilitate both process and topic groups related to substance abuse and co-occurring disorders

Prepare group curriculum relevant to the topic

Communicate with treatment team and other staff as needed to support clinical goals

Complete group progress notes on the same day of service that provide detail on each clients’ participation and highlights medical necessity

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assesses client’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences; formulates a diagnostic impression based on current DSM criteria.

2. Investigates case situations and presents information to members of clinical team, on client’s family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment. Attends Treatment team is necessary.

3. Facilitate substance abuse educational and counseling groups at least once a week, and promptly chart these activities in the client’s records.

4. Provide skill building psycho-educational and/or support groups.

5. Work cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate services to clients if deemed necessary. 6. Strive to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas.

7. Maintains appropriate state license/registration/certification for scope of practice.

Analytical—the individual synthesizes complex or diverse information in group sessions with clients and/or family programming. Group Facilitator recognizes the social, political, economical, and cultural context within which addictions and substance abuse exists ·

Problem solving—the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully. ·

Oral communication—the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts productive meetings.

Group Facilitator communicates established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders and treatment modalities within the continuum of care. ·

Leadership—the individual inspires and motivates others to perform well and accepts feedback from others during weekly treatment team meetings. ·

Quality management—the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Group Facilitator adapts practice to the range of treatment settings and modalities. ·

Judgment - the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions. ·

Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. · Safety and security—the individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education / Experience · Holds licensure or certification that qualifies the Counselor / Therapist as a behavioral health professional according to state licensing professional board, or registered or in school · Possesses a Master’s degree from an accredited University in a social services related field · Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the treatment of behavioral health / substance abuse disorder.

Certificates and Licenses · Licensed as a counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist, psychologist by the state professional services board.

Knowledge · An acute understanding of counseling and other treatment procedures for alcoholism and drug addiction related problems. · A vast knowledge of regulations concerning alcoholism and drug addiction treatment. · Working knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction and treatment procedures for such illness.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
