STAR, Inc is a Norwalk based non-profit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking Residential House Manager to direct and oversee the care of adult residents in a group home setting.
Responsible For:
Ensuring that all goals and objectives of the individuals living in the home and goals and objectives of agency are exemplified through operation of the home.
Supervision of House Staff and the daily operations of Community Living Arrangement (CLA) to ensure state and agency policies are adhered to.
Major Responsibilities:
- Displays an overall commitment to the mission and values of the organization
- Responsible for the development, review, coordination and implementation of the Residents’ Individual Plan in conjunction with DDS Case Manager.
- Performs and ensures the implementation all teaching strategies, services and supports in all life areas to maximize the resident’s independence and control of his/her own life.
- Responsible for the procurement, administration and documentation of all medication and treatments as well as assisting the house nurse in overseeing medication administration for staff in the assigned home.
- Directly train, supervise and give regular feedback/evaluation to all house staff.
- Responsible for having a thorough understanding of State and Agency Policies, Procedures and Regulations. Ensures appropriate operation and documentation to comply with the state requirements for licensing, quality assurance, as well as state and agency policies and procedures.
- Ensures all House Staff maintain current status in all required State and Agency inservices, and certifications.
- Ensures proper use, documentation and security of resident and house funds.
- Ensures appropriate coverage for assigned home and provide shift coverage as needed.
- Communicates professionally with residents, families/guardians and all outside contacts. (as well as peers, nursing and support personnel regarding resident needs)
- Creative problem solving and follow-up with resident and house issues.
- Performs direct care assistance beyond assigned shift until suitable coverage is secured.
- Performs On-call duties for the Residential Department on a rotating basis.
- Other Duties*:
- Responsible for the general safety of all residents and staff under his/her supervision by ensuring compliance with Agency and DDS safety requirements for staff and residents
- Provide hands-on personal care to residents (may include showering and clean-up of bodily fluids)
- Participate in required State and Agency inservice programs and training. Maintain all required trainings and certifications. (medication certification, PSL etc)
- Provide regular meetings and training for house staff
- Ensure Residents are provided individualized recreation opportunities as well as instructed and aided with hygiene and grooming
- Safeguard human and civil rights of all program participants under his/her supervision.
- Follow directions as provided by Residential Quality Assurance Coordinator as well as Residential Director
- Serve as role model for persons served as well as subordinates
- Maintain physical plant to agency standards (condition, cleanliness and home-like atmosphere).
- Performs duties in any agency setting as assigned.
Physical Requirement: Ability to lift 50lbs. occasionally. Stand and walk 90% of workday.
Certification: Medication Certification,. PSL and CPR/First Aid. Agency will provide training.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field and one year experience working with people with disabilities and supervision

A combination of education and experience which in the judgement of the hiring body, meets the qualification standards ensuring satisfactory job performance
Hours: 40 Hours per week – Must be flexible. Some work before or after hours, as well as weekends, holidays to meet the needs of the residents
Salary: Based upon education and experience
