**This position falls within the jurisdiction of the Suffolk County Department of Civil Service. When the Suffolk County Civil service examination is held for this title, the provisional employee must take the examination, pass it and be reachable for appointment from the resultant eligible list in order to be retained.***

An employee in this role will assist in the collection and analysis of data relative to Division of Mental Hygiene programming, in particular analysis outcome reports and spending of our contracted community based agencies.

  • Prepares reports summarizing data points provided from other sources in response to joint efforts.
  • Assists in the development of standards and criteria for policy alternatives in terms of the fiscal and operational implications;
  • Assists in the regulatory process for prior consults, county planning system reports and administrative actions.
  • Maintains relevant technical, complex and diverse records, history, and correspondence for all community based agencies contracted through the Division to provide services to county residents, in an orderly and useful manner.
  • Determine needed modifications and improvements in project structure, design, administrative procedures and implementation of changes;
  • Assists in the preparation of cost analyses of alternative management systems, procedures and methods;
  • Assists in the review of new and proposed federal, state and local legislation to determine the effect on health programs and policies.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree, and two (2) years of experience in health administration, including policy analysis, planning, management analysis, operations research or program evaluations.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities: Essential knowledge, skills and abilities: Good knowledge of the Certificate of Need process; good knowledge of the principles and procedures of health administration; good knowledge of statistical concepts and methods; good knowledge of research methods; ability to analyze and organize data; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Additional graduate education from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State in Health Administration or a related field will be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Type of license or certificate required: Valid NYS Driver’s License upon appointment.

Suffolk County residency is required.
