Help Desk Support Technician Job at Serco North America
Serco, Inc has an immediate opening for a Help Desk Technician. Serco has a highly engaged Desktop technical over 10,000 employees using cutting edge technologies. The position will be based at our Pascagoula, MS location. You will be a key on site resource to assist the Maritime, Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) Business Unit as well as supporting corporate services across Serco, Inc.
Must be willing to be onsite 5 days a week at our Pascagoula, MS location. (Prior approval will be required for part-time flex scheduling.)
This position will support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. You will troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.
In this role you will:
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions,
- Provide remote support to home based employees.
- Occasional onsite support to our Navy Yard employees.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software, and other products to deliver required desktop service levels.
- Experience in working with network equipment (routers, switches) desired. May be called to provide touch support for our Network team in supporting equipment onsite.
- Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
- Collaborate with Technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the organization's desktop computing environment.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or work orders regarding desktop problems.
- Ensure that desktop connections, ie. network jacks are in proper working order.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A United States Citizenship
- A High School diploma and 4 years of progressive desktop support experience
- An associate degree in lieu of 2 years of experience
- The ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- The Ability to travel up to 10% (on an as needed basis to nearby Naval Base Shipyards)
- Valid Driver’s license is required. Serco vehicle will be provided.
- Experience with the following technologies is required: Windows 10, SCCM experience imaging systems, remote access tools and Active Directory.
- Excellent knowledge of PC and desktop hardware
- Excellent knowledge of PC internal components
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity in supporting M365 services such as Office suite, Teams, Teams telephony.
- Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
- The ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
