Hotel Pool Attendant Job at JRK Property Holdings
Summary
The Hotel Oceana Santa Monica is seeking a Pool Attendant join our team to ensure that hotel guests have a fun and safe environment in which to swim and relax. The Pool Attendant is responsible for assisting all guests at the pool with towels, seating, food and beverage ordering, and requests courteously and efficiently, according to hotel standards. The role maintains the cleanliness and organization of all supplies, equipment and work areas and ensure guest safety and enjoyment.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $18.17 to $20.00 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
- Hand out pool equipment and attend to guests; Ensure every guest is promptly greeted and provided with waters, sunscreen, and any other needed items
- Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout the shift
- Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions; Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe
- Organizing and overseeing pool parties
- Maintaining a clean pool environment, including Regularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- CPR certification is preferred but not required
- Demonstrated ability to stay alert, hydrated and energized throughout the day
- Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to survey a group of swimmers and isolate those in need of assistance
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure all essential duties are fulfilled
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and speak clearly
- Treats everyone with respect and dignity, accepts responsibility and takes ownership of tasks, follows through on commitments, takes initiative and maintains confidentiality
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Prior pool service experience in a hospitality environment preferred
Physical Requirements
- Expected work hours: Variable

Work environment and physical demands:
- Ability to remain calm under pressure to administer aid to those in distress
- Physically fit and an excellent swimmer; ability to lift children and adults out of indoor/outdoor pools and spas
- FLSA Status: Nonexempt
