Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services Systems is seeking candidates for a Principal or Senior Principal HR Business Partner located in Falls Church, VA. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will be responsible for understanding business strategies, vision and challenges and proactively responding with talent strategies, programs, and processes that align with Company and business goals. Candidate should be an outstanding communicator capable of describing capabilities of the platform, how it should be used and the business value it drives

Primary responsibilities include serving as the business partner and consultant to internal client groups to help build organizational capability to meet sector and organizational strategic goals. Incumbent will develop and implement value-added HR programs and initiatives as well as support all aspects of HR for assigned client group. The selected candidate must be able to work in partnership with client groups and HRBP peers across multiple sites.

Additional background and experience:

  • Advise and Coach Executives and Leaders

  • Architect Talent strategies and programs, aligning to strategic business imperatives

  • Partner with Organizational Effectiveness to design and transform organizations

  • Drive and Champion Change Management

  • Facilitate and Guide Executives on Talent processes and programs (e.g., Succession plans)

  • Mitigate risks, identifying compliance issues, engaging legal counsel, as appropriate

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to develop comprehensive workforce plans

  • Ability to drive HR initiatives (can start with a blank sheet, design a plan/program/process and execute on a timeline)

  • Strong relationship building skills; proven track record of building collaborative partnerships as the basis for being able to influence direction and drive change

  • Strong consulting skills; able to dissect the root cause or core problem to solve and bring appropriate solutions and resources to bear

  • Deep talent mindset coupled with practical experience in driving leader development

  • Proven track record of being able to assess, diagnose and design creative and innovate organizational solutions

  • Strong analytical skills; able to translate business strategy into implications for workforce (hiring, shaping, etc.)

  • Strategic thinking – sees the big picture and connects the dots; also dives into the details as necessary

  • Apply change management processes / tools to develop and implement effective change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption, improve organization performance, and increase operational efficiencies

  • Integrate change management activities into project plans; provide subject matter expertise, coaching and guidance to project teams

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Human Resources Business Partner:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Labor Relations, Business or related field with 5+ years of strong progressive HR Generalist experience including experience implementing HR programs and processes preferably in a manufacturing and / or engineering environment – OR – a Master's degree with 3+ years of the required experience

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Human Resources Business Partner:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Labor Relations, Business or related field with 9+ years of strong progressive HR Generalist experience including experience implementing HR programs and processes preferably in a manufacturing and / or engineering environment – OR – a Master's degree with 7+ years of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Prior experience supporting enterprise-wide talent efforts at a large organization

  • Change Management certification or designation highly desired

  • Acute business acumen and critical thinker with demonstrated understanding of organizational issues and challenges

  • Exceptional listener, verbal and written communicator

  • Ability to clearly and succinctly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

  • Exceptional relationship building skills and ability to influence decision making without direct authority at all levels of the organization

  • Collaborative team player, highly capable of working with and through others

  • Forward looking problem solver, capable of identifying root causes, appropriate mitigation plans and grounded in the academic/theory but with practical implementation approaches

  • Flexible, adaptable, agile and resilient; ability to work in ambiguous situations

  • Organized with demonstrated strength in strategy planning and tactics



Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
